Portugal’s government says Primeira Liga will be allowed to resume on 30th May, after it was brought to a halt by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Prime Minister Antonio Costa included the announcement in his presentation on Thursday of the government’s plan to relax the lockdown measures.

Costa said the resumption depends on health authorities approving measures to make stadiums meet hygiene conditions.

10 rounds of games were remaining and all will be played without fans.

FC Porto sit on top of the Primeira Liga table, one point ahead of second-placed Benfica after 24 rounds of games.

More than 25,000 cases of Coronavirus have been confirmed in Portugal with the virus claiming more than 900 lives.

In France, Paris Saint-Germain have been awarded the Ligue one title after the government announced ban on sporting activities until September.

The Dutch Eredivisie was cancelled on Friday last week with no promotion or relegation and no title winners, while on Monday Belgian clubs postponed a vote on confirming the cancellation of their top flight until next week.
