Codes of ethics for public administrators

The American Society of Public Administrators has proposed the following as code of conduct for public administrators:

a) Public administrators should put public interest above self-interest; This means that public servants should encourage active participation in government affairs;

b) Public servants should perform their duties in an honest manner and should not do anything for honor or personal gain;

c) Public servants should strive for professional excellence. This means that they should always work towards advancing their competence. Therefore, if you are serving the Kenyan government for example and you are not competent, then, you are breaking the codes of ethics.
