Senator Okiya Omtata, was today involved in a road accident as he headed to Busia County. He drives a Nissan AD Van.
The accident happened in Kisumu on Friday morning. His car was hit by a truck descending the Ojola hill towards Maseno.
Kenyans were shocked that the Senator unlike his colleagues drives a cheap car which is mostly used by business persons to transport commodities. Kenyans on X would not stop woundering why the Busia Senator did not go for high end fuel guzzlers such as Toyota V8 among others.
“Okiya Omtatah being trolled for driving a modest Nissan AD. Tumezoea kuona politicians na big machines bought na pesa zimeibiwa from public coffers mpaka seeing an honest politician inakaa abnormal,” Said Ole Teya an X user.
“Okiyah Omtatah needs to be serious with life buana. He shouldn’t extend this humility trait to his safety. For Christ sake we can’t afford losing him now. He’s the only leader who’s allowed to drive a heavy machine using our taxes!”
According to Nyanza Regional Traffic Police Boss Allan Mwangi, the Senator was not injured and he proceeded with his journey to Busia.
