Sharing is Caring

A BBC broadcaster has suffered an heart attack while live on air.

This happened on 13 April 2023 forcing his colleague Michael Chequer to replace him in the program.

“It is Thursday morning, Michael Chequer in for David Fitzgerald who is feeling a little under the weather,” Michael informed the listeners.

“He has left the studio to get himself checked out.

“He is absolutely fine, we will keep you updated and let you know. He will be back with you ASAP.”

Later David posted on Facebook to update his listeners on his health status.

He said: “Just a little heart issue this morning, on the radio… thank you Derriford.”

The presenter also shared his photo while on hospital bed to accompany the statement.

David commenced his radio career in 1980 where he moved up the ladder through ILR as well as moved into TV by 1986.

By 1994, David was working as a news presenter for Sky News in the United States of America.

He has covered various news such as the arrest of OJ Simpson, the Oklahoma bombings and Waiko.

He also reported on the Bosnian War, the death of Princes Diana, Royal Weddings and the General elections.
