Sharing is Caring

The right to bear arms is enshrined in the U.S. constitution. Critics now say that the Second Amendment threatens another Constitutional right “The right to life.”

According to the Small Arms Survey (SAS), the numbers of guns is higher than the population. It is estimated that there are 120 guns for every 100 Americans. No other country in the world has more guns than the population.

The world’s second largest number of civilian guns (62 guns per 100 people) is found in the Falkland Islands- British territory.

Yemen has the 3rd largest number of civilian guns (53 guns per 100 people). The country has been in a civil war for the last seven years.

We have to be aware that it is not easy to accurate count the number of guns because of many factors including availability of unregistered weapons around the world and illegal trade.

Americans own 393 million out of the 857 guns owned by civilians around the world. That is 46 percent of the world’s civilian gun cache.

Illegal stocks of guns in some countries are due to past conflicts. There are only three countries in the world where people have a constitutional right to bear or keep arms. The other two are Mexico and Guatemala.

There is only one gun store in the entire Mexico and it is controlled by the military.

Firearm is a great business in the USA as more and more Americans purchase guns.

Just as there are more guns in the USA, there are also more firearm homicides too.

More than a third of the people in the United States of America believe that the more guns people own, the lower the crime rates.

The largest number of gun-related homicides is in Washington DC. Mass shootings happen annually in the USA for the last 20 years.
