Fikre Selassie Wogderess served as Ethiopia’s Prime Minister from 10th Sep 1987 to 8 Nov 1989. He died on 12 December 2020. 

His newly formed communist government replaced the Derg government. 

In 1996, Fikre was among the 46 former leaders who faced trial for genocide and crimes against humanity. The trial ended in 2008. He was sentenced to death. 

The Ethiopian government commuted the death sentence of Fikre and 23 other Derg official in 2010. 

After 20 years in prison, Fikre Selassie and 16 others were released from prison. 

He died of kidney complications and diabetes.
