Cyrus Poonawalla is the son of a horse breeder. He is the founder of Serum Institute of India which he established in 1966. Now the institute is the largest vaccine maker in the world.

 

Serum Institute of India has its headquarters in Pune City. The company produces over 1.5 billion doses every year. These vaccines are for flu, measles and polio.

 

Cyrus Poonawalla has stakes in Poonawalla Fincorp which is a financial services company and also owns Ritz-Carlton hotel in Pune.

 

In 2023, his son Adar acquired Aberconway House located in Mayfair London at a cost of 138 million pounds.
