Pablo Escobar was one of the richest drug lords in the world. He dominated the sale of cocaine for decades.

He developed new shipments, routes and distribution networks. He purchased huge chunks of land including an island near Florid with 1 km airstrip, houses, boats, aircraft, harbor. 

 

 

At the height of his success in the drug business, Pablo Escobar purchased 20 square kilometres of land in Antioque for several millions of dollars. 


Across Colombia, he owned hundreds of residences (142) and safe houses. He built mansions, apartments with tiled floors and reinforced windows. 

 

At the peak of his drug business he owned 142 planes, 20 helicopters and 30 yachts. All for transporting drugs. 

 

When his business was raking in billions of dollars, he would pay his pilots $500,000 per trip made. This was a lucrative pay for the pilots acting as an incentive for them to keep risking their lives for Pablo Escobar. 

 

One of his homes is reported to have been better the the presidential palace in Colombia. He had a zoo at the home stocked with exotic wild animals such as elephants, hippos etc. 

 

Pablo Escobar was richer than his home country – Colombia.
