Former Juventus and Italy international Claudio Marchisio has retired from football. He has been without a football Club since July after Russian Club Zenit St Petersburg agreed to terminate his contract.

The 33 year Old suffered a series of injuries in the latter part of his career but was a key player in Juventus era of Serie A dominance.

Claudio Marchisio twice featured in the Champions League finals- in 2015 and in 2017 with Juventus but in both occasions Juventus were beaten, first by Barcelona and then by Real Madrid.

Claudio Marchisio made 55 appearances for Italy national team, helping them reach The Euro 2012 finals which they were beaten 4-0 by Spain.
Marchisio left Juventus in 2018 for Zenit St Petersburg but insists he’ll never lose his love for the club. He acknowledged that the 8 time defending Champions could face a real challenge from Inter Milan this season.

The Midfielder labelled the UEFA Champions league defeats in 2015 and 2017 and Euro 2012 final loss to Spain as the biggest regrets of his football career.
