According to IEBC Chairman, Wafula Chebukati, Dr. William Ruto garnered 7 million votes which is 50.59% of the total votes cast.
According to the IEBC, position two was taken by former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga, who received 48 percent of all the votes cast.
Dr. William Ruto thanked God for making it possible for him to be elected as the 5th President of Kenya.
In his acceptance speech, he thanked all Kenyans who refused to vote on ethnic lines.
“In this election, there are no losers, the people of Kenya have won,” William Ruto.
“The hero of this election is the IEBC, led by Wafula Chebukati, the IEBC has amazed all of us, … I want to congratulate the IEBC for raising the bar” William Ruto said during his speech.
