Sharing is Caring

Tsai Ing-Wen, the leader of Taiwanese party which campaigned against unification of Taiwan with China has been re-elected in landslide victory.

The Guardian newspaper of United Kingdom reported that she was voted by 8 million people which is the largest number of votes ever received since Taiwan started engaging in direct elections in 1996.

Tsai Ing-Wen is a strong opponent of Taiwan’s unification with China. In one of his speeches, Hu Jintao said in the past, that China could not hesitate to use force to bring Taiwan under her authority.

Taiwan is currently recognized as an independent state by 15 countries only despite her enjoying a de-facto independence.

Tsai Ing-Wen has effectively positioned herself as a protector of Taiwan’s sovereignty.
