Everton forward Theo Walcott will miss the resumption of the Premier League after undergoing abdominal surgery.

The 31-year-old suffered an injury in training.

Everton are preparing to return to action on June 21 when they face Liverpool at home.

Walcott is expected to be out for four weeks.

Everton’s statement read: ’’The 31-year-old forward had abdominal surgery on Monday evening, having developed symptoms following the first team’s return to training.

‘’He has now started his rehabilitation under the care of the club’s medical team.’’

The former Arsenal forward took to social media to thank fans for their messages of support.

Yerry Mina, Jean-Philippe Gbamin and Andre Gomes have also suffered injuries since the Toffees returned to training.
