Tottenham Hotspurs forward Heung-Min Son will be sidelined for a number of weeks after fracturing his right arm, the club confirmed on Tuesday.

The South Korea International suffered the fracture during Sunday’s 3-2 win over Aston Villa, where he scored two goals.

The club revealed that Son will undergo a surgery this week , which is a major setback as they prepare to face RB Leipzig in the UEFA Champions League last 16 on Wednesday.

Son will also miss a mouth-watering clash with Chelsea during the weekend as Tottenham try to secure a top-four finish in the Premier League this season.

The news is a big blow to manager Jose Mourinho who is already without forward Harry Kane.

Tottenham said in a statement: ’’Following surgery, our medical staff shall be reviewing management options for Son’s rehabilitation with the player expected to be sidelined for a number of weeks.’’

Son has scored 16 goals for Tottenham Hotspurs this season. Tottenham have few options left in attack, having not bought a striker in the January transfer period.

Mourinho might use Lucas Moura, Steven Bergwijn and Troy Parrot to fill the gap left by Son.

Fifth-placed Spurs will play Chelsea at the Stamford Bridge next weekend after facing RB Leipzig in the Champions League.
