Andriy Shevchenko has confirmed that he would one day wish to return to Milan as the club’s head coach.

The 43-year-old has been in charge of Ukraine since 2016.

Shevchenko, who played as a forward in his playing days, won a serie A title and the UEFA Champions League at the San Siro.

Shevchenko joined Milan in 1999. He made 208 appearances and scored 127 goals before leaving for Chelsea in 2006.

He now hopes to return to the club in head coach capacity.

In an instagram live chat on Wednesday, Shevchenko said: ‘’Milan is always in my heart and one day, when I decide to change, I would love to train them.’’

Milan has struggled in recent seasons, last winning the Serie A in 2010/2011 campaign.

Milan were 7th in the Serie A table when the season was suspended due to the global coronavirus pandemic.

Shevchenko hopes his former side can improve when the campaign resumes.

‘’We must try to finish the season at best at this moment. Everyone will have to give their best to have respect of the fans. Then, we will see what will happen and what future the club will have.’’ He said.
