Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti has suffered a calf injury after two days of training as the club prepares for a possible La Liga restart.

The club confirmed on Saturday that Umtiti picked up an injury during a training session and he might miss a few sessions.

The 26-year-old Frenchman played 16 times for Barcelona this season before the games were suspended in March, and was twice injured earlier in the season, leading to him missing 10 games between September and November.

FC Barcelona players were allowed to train at Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper on Friday for the first time since March due to the global coronavirus pandemic.

The team trained on Saturday for the second workout and will be back on Monday for more individual training sessions.

La Liga is hoping to restart the season in June, although it has yet to confirm dates for fixtures.

Players will train in small groups and progress to full team training before resuming the matches.

With 11 rounds of matches remaining, Barcelona sit on top of the La Liga table, 2 points ahead of Real Madrid, who are due to begin training next week.
