Eden Hazard is set to miss Real Madrid’s vital games against Manchester City and Barcelona after suffering a hairline fracture to his right ankle.

The Belgium International hobbled off in the second-half of Madrid’s 1-0 loss to Levante on Saturday.

Madrid have not given the timeline for Hazard’s return to action but reports in Spain suggest that the forward is set for another long lay-off meaning the former Chelsea star will miss crucial games against Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League last-16 and Barcelona in the Spanish Laliga next Sunday.

The club issued a statement: ‘’Following the tests carried out today [Sunday] on our player, Eden Hazard, by the Real Madrid medical department, he has been diagnosed with a fracture to his right distal fibula. His recovery will continue to be assessed.’’

Hazard was playing his second game since his injury when playing against Paris Saint Germain on November 2nd.

His first season at Madrid got off to a delayed start following a thigh problem in pre-season, forcing him to wait until Mid-September to make his debut following his transfer from Chelsea in June.

Real Madrid’s loss means they have lost the top spot in the Laliga to Barcelona ahead of the El-Clasico on Sunday.
