Tyres were burnt within Kisii town causing a heavy traffic snarl.
The Police had to lob tear gas to disperse the rioters.
Reports indicate that the protests were staged by the handshake supporters but they were countered by those supporting the Deputy President.
Ruto was to meet with Bodaboda riders in the region today for a fundraising event.
In Nyamarambe, the venue of the main event hired hooligans brought down tents where William Ruto is set to hold the fundraises.
