Finally, President Uhuru Kenyatta has spoken on the outbreak of the deadly coronavirus.

He has set up a task force made up of 21 members and directed that the isolation center at Mbagathi should be completed in one week.

He also set another deadline of 15 March 2020 for setting up isolation facilities at all Level 5 and all referral facilities in Kenya.

“Kenya is a major international transport hub, with 70 per cent of international passengers in transit, and there is a significant threat arising from the spread of the coronavirus to Kenya from countries that have new and ongoing outbreaks of the pneumatic disease,”  read in part the executive order No. 2 of 2020.

The National Emergency Response Committee will be in charge of responding, enhancing surveillance at all entry points into Kenya and supply of products, masks and medical testing kits required to deal with the outbreak of coronavirus.
