Sharing is Caring

President Donald Trump has said that he’ll ban the short-video app TikTok from the United States.

TikTok is owned by Chinese firm ByteDance whose headquarters are in Beijing.

Reports have emerged that the Chinese-owned app allows the Chinese government access the data of its users.

TikTok has denied reports that it’s being controlled by the government of China.

The fast-growing app has over 80 Million users in the United States. Most of the users are in India and US.

Trump said on Friday:’’ As far as TikTok is concerned, we’re banning them from the United States.’’

He added that he would take action as soon as Saturday.

TikTok, which has over one billion users worldwide, has already been banned in India.

The move to ban TikTok comes at a time when there is tension between Trump’s administration and the Chinese government including trade disputes and China’s handling of the Covid-19 outbreak.
