FC Porto secured their 29th Primeira Liga title following their 2-0 win over Sporting CP on Wednesday.

Goals from Danilo Pereira and Moussa Marega in the second half dethroned defending champions Benfica with two games remaining.

Porto have been almost flawless since the campaign resumed in June following a hiatus caused by the pandemic, winning 6 out of 8 games.

Benfica, meanwhile, have only won thrice since the league restarted last month. They’re now 8 points behind Porto with two games remaining.

Porto head coach Sergio Conceicao said: ‘’We won one of the most important titles in Porto’s history. I’d like to dedicate this title to my family, who suffer a lot, my wife and my children and my parents.’’

The Dragons who have 25 wins from 32 games, drawing three and losing four, will end their season with matches at home to Moreirense and away at Braga.
