Sharing is Caring

Former Pope, Benedict XVI, died at his Vatican residence at the age of 95 years.

Pope Benedict XVI resigned in 2013 and effectively became the first Roman Catholic Church Pope to resign in more than 600 years. He said that he was exhausted and that is why he resigned.

Benedict was elected leader of the Catholic Church aged 78 in 2005 following John Paul II’s death. He became the oldest elected Pope in three centuries.

Before he became a pope, he served as a theology professor. He came from a farming family in Germany. He later became the Cardinal of Munch.
