Vietnamese police have seized about 345,000 used condoms that had been cleaned, repackaged and ready to be sold, Reuters reports.
The condoms were packed in bags and weighed over 360 kilograms according to VTV. The contraceptives were found in a warehouse in the southern province of Binh Duong, near Ho Chi Minh City.
The owner of the warehouse said they had received a “monthly input of used condoms from an unknown person,” state newspaper Tuoi Tre reported.
The woman detained after the police raid said the used condoms were boiled in water, dried and reshaped before being repackaged.
It remains unclear how many of the used condoms were resold but the detained woman said she had received $0.17 for every 1kg of recycled condoms she produced.
