The Solar Tiles Manufactured by Hungarian Firm (Patio) is what Kenyan cities need
The new Hungarian company- Patio is passionate about putting solar panels on every available space. For now, they have embarked on putting the panels on sidewalks, Patio’s pavement solars.
The system employs solid solar panels that won’t break when stepped upon or rolled over. Here in Nairobi where matatus ply on sidewalks they may break though.
Patio has raised $70,000 in funding for the project and they have already sold 150 square meters of tiles so far.
It’s more interesting to note that the tiles are manufactured from plastic waste. Once they are installed, you forget about them.
This is a great idea for cities that are looking out for waste recycling ideas. It is environmentally friendly.
