Nairobi City County is planning to establish corporations to manage provision of basic services.

This is in an effort to prevent political interference when it comes to service delivery. 

The County Corporations Bill 2019 will provide a framework for formation of such corporations. 

Nairobi Water and Sewerage Company will also be converted into a corporation under the new law. 

County employees working under health and housing departments will also be moved under the new corporations.

The Kenya Public Finance Management (PFM) Act 2012 provides an avenue for county governments to created their own corporations.
