USA Secretary of State Mike Pompeo issued a statement on the book published by John Bolton. He called the former national security adviser as a traitor ‘who damaged America by violating his sacred trust with its people.’
According to Pompeo, the book according to excerpts posted online is filled with “number of lies, fully-span half-truths and outright falsehoods.”
The book written by Bolton is titled “The Room Where It Happened: A White House Memoir.” It will be released on 23 June, 2020.
According to CNN, New York Times and Washington Post excerpts, made allegations that Trump favoured some dictators and even gave them some favours and that all the actions that Action took, were always aimed at his re-election.
The author, Bolton, also stated that when Trump met North Korea President Kim Jong Un, Pompeo passed him a note written Trump “is full of sh*t.”
In 2019, Bolton was sacked by Donald Trump for advising US president to go to war with Iran and North Korea instead of pursuing diplomacy.
“I’ve not read the book, but from the excerpts I’ve seen published, John Bolton is spreading a number of lies, fully-spun half-truths, and outright falsehoods,” Pompeo stated.
Donald Trump and his administration is trying to stop the publication of the book stating that it contains classified data hence Bolton should seek clearance with the National Security Commission.
An emergency restraining order has already been filed by the Department of Justice to stop the release of the book.
Bolton’s publisher, Simon & Schuster, has termed the Department of Justice’s filling as “a frivolous, politically motivated exercise in futility.”
The publisher also added that, “Hundreds of thousands of copies of the book have already been distributed around the country and the world.”
Boton’s lawyer, Chuck Cooper, wrote an article on The Wall Street Journal a couple of days ago accusing US government of trying to block the release of the book with an excuse of “national security.”
