Ambassador Meg Whitman was a business executive in America before she was nominated to serve as a U.S. ambassador to Kenya.

Whitman unsuccessfully vied for Governor of California.

Donald Kipkorir, a partner at KTK Advocates, believes that Meg Whitman is the richest person currently residing in Kenya.

Whitman served as an executive at the Walt Disney Company. She was VP for strategic planning for the entire 1980s at this company.

In the 1990s she served as an executive at Procter & Gamble, Dreamworks and Hasbro.

Between 1998 and 2008 she was Chief Executive Officer and President of eBay. During her tenure she expanded the company from 30 – 15,000 employees and annual revenues shot from $4 million to $8 billion.

In 2008, the New York Times predicted that Whitman is among the women likely to become President in the U.S.

Forbes estimates Whitman’s wealth at $3.4 billion, equivalent to Ksh. 406 billion. That is nearly 12 times the budget of Nairobi City County.

In December 2021, Joe Biden nominated Meg Whitman to serve as United States ambassador to Kenya.

Meg Whitman graduated with an A.B in economics from Princeton University in 1977. In 1979 she obtained an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Meg Whitman has many investments including Immortals Gaming Club, FC Cincinnati.

Meg spent Ksh. 17.2 billion as her own contribution to her political campaigns when she was vying for Governor in California. This is the second largest amount of personal financing in a campaign in the United States of America.
