Professor Makau Mutua, 64, is a professor of Law at SUNY Buffalo School of Law in the United States of America. 

 

In 2016, he made an unsuccessful attempt to become Kenya’s next chief Justice at the Supreme Court of Kenya. 

 

He attended Kitui School and in 1983 he graduated from University of Dar es Salaam with a Bachelor’s of Law (LLB) and in 1984 he graduated with an LLM. In 1987, Mutua graduated with a S.J.D at Harvard University in the U.S.

 

Prof. Makau Mutua is the chairman of Kenya Human Rights Commission (KHRC) – a national Non Government Organization (NGO).
