Below is a list of the longest running columnists in the world. They had  written consistently for many years/decades. These men dedicated their time to in-depth research and writing for the masses. We salute them.

  1. Jack Ingram

Jack Ingram a citizen of the United Kingdom is the longest serving columnist in the world. He was born on 20-09-1919. Guinness Book of Records notes that Ingram contributed weekly articles titled ‘Scouts and Scouting’ to the Heywood Advertiser starting from 29-12-1933 through 5-2-2004. Jack Ingram also used White Eagle as a pen name. In total Jack served for 71 years as a columnist.

It’s important to note that his publishing record was only interrupted by World War II.

2. Hiroyuki Itsuki (Japan)

Hiroyuki Itsuki holds the record for longest serving daily newspaper columnist. He had been publishing a daily column for 32 years in the Nikkan Gendai. This is a record which was determined on 13 June, 2008.  Mr. Hiroyuki published 8,000 articles on his column.

3.0 Leonard Barden

Leonard Barden was a daily columnist at London Evening Standard for sixty (60) years. His first column was first published on September, 1955. His topic of discussion was Chess which he researched meticulously and wrote very well.

4.0 George Koltanowski 

He was a writer for San Francisco Chronicle for a period of 51 years and nine (9) months.

5.0 Tom Widdows 

Tom Widdows  wrote for Worcester News for the period between Oct 1945 to April 2006.
