Kinuthia Mbugua Quits Nakuru Gubernatorial Race

Kinuthia Mbugua, the current governor for Nakuru was defeated by Mr. Lee Kinyanjui for the Jubilee ticket to run for governor’s seat in Nakuru. Kinuthia Mbugua received 150,137 votes against Kinyanjui’s 216,385 votes.

At first, Kinuthia Mbugua announced that he will defend his seat on an independent ticket but now he has dropped out of the race. He will be supporting Lee Kinyanjui of Jubilee.

The field now has been left to Lee Kinyanjui of Jubilee, Ben Njoroge Paul of Kanu and Dr. Peter Koros of Chama Cha Mashinani. 

Who is Lee Kinyanjui?

Lee Kinyanjui is the current Member of Parliament for Nakuru Town Constituency for two terms starting from 2007.

He is 35 years old and a graduate from Kenyatta University where he studied Literature. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from University of Nairobi.

He served as an Assistant Minister for Roads under Mwai Kibaki’s regime.
