Kenyatta University has announced resumption dates after the institution was closed on October 7th 2019 following student demonstrations.

The University sent out a Memo and reporting dates are slated as per the various student courses.

The Students pursuing Medicine, Public Health and Applied Human Sciences, Pharmacy, Nursing, Engineering and Technology, Built Environment and Architecture are supposed to report to school on Monday October 21st 2019 and Lectures will begin on Tuesday 22nd October.

Those taking Environmental Studies, Hospitality, Tourism and Leisure Studies, Agriculture and Enterprise Development, Security, Business, Diplomacy and Peace Studies, Creative and Preforming Arts, Film and Media will report on Tuesday 22nd October and classes will resume on Wednesday 23rd October.

Those taking Education, Pure and Applied Sciences and Social Sciences will report on Wednesday 23rd and classes will resume on Thursday 24th October.

The student protests led to damages of the school property and every undergraduate student will pay Ksh 500 to cater for the damages.

The students were protesting over early deadline for fees payment, suspension of fellow students and student leaders over what they termed as ‘petty basis’ and the administration charging Ksh 2500 for the Supplementary examination.

The students engaged the police officers in running battles along the Thika Road and caused a huge traffic jam.
