We woke up this morning to the sad news that Nyamira County Governor John Obiero Nyagarama is dead.
John Nyagarama started his life as a high school teacher, then a Director at the Kenya Tea Development Authority (KTDA) and most recently a governor of Nyamira County. He was on his 2nd term before he died.
The also worked as the managing director of the Sotik Tea Factory from 1991 to 1992.
On Sunday, Nyagara was placed on life support and passed on this morning.
He had contracted the Covid-19 virus and has been fighting for his life for the past three weeks.
According to media reports, the governor had other underlying conditions such as diabetes.
According a family member who spoke to the media, John Nyagarama breathed his last at 4 am Friday morning.
He is survived by a wife, Naom Nyagarama, and 17 children.
