Forward Joao Felix has been ruled out of Atletico Madrid’s La Liga game against Celta Vigo on Tuesday due to ankle injury.

The Portuguese star was substituted in the 54th minute of Atletico’s 3-0 win over Mallorca on Friday night.

The 20-year-old was examined on Sunday and results showed that he suffered ”a traumatic bone adema in his ankle”, the club confirmed in a statement on Monday.

The club has not revealed when Felix will return to action.

Felix joined Atletico from Benfica in 2019 for €126M but has failed to live up to expectations in his first season with the club.

He has scored 8 goals and assisted thrice in 34 appearances for Atletico in all competitions.

The striker has also struggled with injuries this term, missing 10 games.
