Sharing is Caring

There are many international human rights mechanisms that you can take advance of and participate in policy making at the international level.

At the beginning of 2020, my friends and I were keen to participate in the High Level Political Forum (HLPF) in New York City but it did not work due to the outbreak of Covid-19. Later on in July, the event was held virtually.

Now we have another opportunity to participate in international policy making processes through the UN Human Rights Committee. All member states of the United Nations are required to submit regular reports on the state of implementation of civil and political rights. After assessment, the independent experts give recommendations or what they call “concluding observations” to the states under review.

The UN Human Rights Committee will review Kenya’s compliance with the International Covenant for Civil Political Rights (ICCPR) and we all have an opportunity to submit a shadow report by Monday 24th August, 2020.

Let us jump on this opportunity and draft the report together :).

If you are truly interested in this process, let me know in the comments section below.
