In the 2017 general election, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission announced up to  403,503 spoiled votes. This came about due to lack of assistance by IEBC officials and civil education.

Here are some of the steps to ensure your vote is not spoiled.

  1. Stamp    : After the biometric confirmation, ensure the six ballot papers have an official IEBC stamp.
  2. Marking: make sure the mark corresponds to the name, symbol of the candidate and portrait

: Do not mark boxes corresponding to two candidates.

: Mark should not touch outside the box.

If a voter spoils a vote, he can be given another one but not more than twice.
