Is’t Hollywood or “Hollyweed”: 2017 Prank

On Saturday night we stayed awake to asher in a new year, 2017. At the same time, a vandal in the famous Hollywood was busy transforming the iconic Hollywood sign to read “Hollyweed.”

This means that the vandal who is reported to have worked alone spent the whole Saturday night to early Sunday morning to convey a message. This may have been inspired by the fact that California had legalized marijuana.

The two “Os” on Hollywood were transformed using tarps. The security services at the Los Angeles police department are doing all they can to identify the suspect and arrest him/her.

    1. I thought so. It was so funny that we died with laughter!!! He may not be identified after all because he was dressed in all black. Their surveillance cameras have failed them.

  1. He transformed it with tarp? So he didn’t really make any permanent damage. Someone just had to go pull a few tarps down. As a bonus.. free tarps.

Come on, why is our society so F’d up that someone who pulls a harmless prank like this is a target for arrest? If some people would just relax and enjoy life we would all be a lot better off.

Also.. did he really spend the whole of Saturday night and Sunday morning doing this? How big are those letters?!?! I’m gonna go Google it.

    1. True. He changed the sign using tarps. I agree with your concerns considering that the prankster was probably paying homage to the new California law legalizing weed for recreational uses.
The authorities are seeking to arrest the prankster for misdemeanor trespassing. The property around the sign is protected from trespassers.
The vandal, Zan Fernandez who goes by the name “Jesushands” on social media came out to the open and said that he did the prank in Jesus name!!!!

    2. Hey Me, the Hollywood sign is 13.7M tall. Remember he scaled the two “OOs” it is quite a task. It is possible it took him a large part of the night. Placing the tarps on such huge letters is no joke considering he was working sole.
