Defender Eric Garcia in keen to leave Manchester City after telling manager Pep Guardiola that he does not want to sign a new contract.

The 19-year-old’s contract expires at the end of 2020-21 season.

He has been linked with a move to FC Barcelona.

Garcia has made a total of 22 appearances for Manchester City first-team since joining in 2017.

The Spain Under-21 international came through the Barcelona academy before joining City.

“He announced to us that he doesn’t want to extend his contract with Manchester City,’’ Guardiola told reporters ahead of City’s Champions League last-16 second leg against Real Madrid on Friday.

‘’He has one more year and after that, he doesn’t want to extend. We want it but he doesn’t want to, so I imagine he wants to play in another place.”

This comes days after City signed defender Nathan Ake from AFC Bournemouth.

City have also signed winger Ferran Torres from Valencia.

Pep Guardiola also confirmed that striker Sergio Aguero, who suffered an injury in June and underwent an operation in Barcelona, will not be fit to face Real Madrid.
