Sharing is Caring

A jury in New York federal court has found Ghislaine Maxwell guilty on five of the six counts related to her role in Jeffrey Epstein’s sexual abuse of underage girls between 1994 and 2004.

Ghislaine Maxwell is a former socialite from Britain, she was arrested in July 2020.

Epstein is a convicted sex offender who killed himself in a jail in New York after naming Donald Trump, Prince Andrew and former president Bill Clinton as cronies. He was convicted of sex-trafficking.

This marks a quick but dramatic end of a fast-moving trial. The proceedings were initially expected to take a minimum of six weeks. A total of 24 witnesses were called by the prosecutors over a period of 10 days. The defense team called 9 witnesses over a period of two days.

Prosecutors stated that Maxwell “preyed on vulnerable young girls, manipulated them and served them up to be sexually abused” by Epstein.

Jane, Kate, Carolyn and Annie Farmer were the four accusers in the case. As you can see the first three did not use their two names for privacy reasons.

Jane stated that she was 14 years old in 1994 when she was first sexually abused by Epstain and sometimes Maxwell was present during the abuse. In some of the occasions, Maxwell participated in the abuse.

“There were hands everywhere,” Jane remembered of an encounter with Maxwell and Epstein. The sexual abuse continued when she was 15 and 16.

Kate testified that she met Maxwell in Paris, France, around 1994, then aged 17. Maxwell welcomed Kate for a cup of tea to her London townhouse shortly after they met. She then introduced Kate to Epstein at the next meeting.

A couple of weeks later Maxwell called Kate and said that; “Jeffrey was meant to get a massage but the massage therapist had canceled. Could I do her a favor and come over … because I had strong hands.”

Kate also testified that Maxwell led upstairs when she met Epstein wearing a robe. Maxwell crossed the door and left them alone. Epstein established a sexual contact and Kate meet a couple of times every year after that first sexual encounter. This happened for several years.

Carolyn stated that she met Epstein and Maxwell around the beginning of 2000s. At the time she was 14 years old and the place was Palm Beach Mansion.

Subsequently, Carolyn visited Epstein “over 100 times” from ages 14 to 18. She testified about physical encounter with Maxwell while setting up the massage table.

“I was getting fully nude, and she came in and felt my boobs and my hips and my buttocks and said … that I had a great body for Mr Epstein and his friends. She just said that I had a good body type,” Carolyn said.

Annie Farmer, was the only accuser to testify under her full name rather than a first name or pseudonym, she testified that Maxwell sent her a nude massage when she was just 16 years old. This happened at Epstein’s home in New Mexico ranch.

Annie Farmer first met Epstein towards the end of 1995 when she travelled to meet her sister, Maria, in New York City. At the time Maria was working as a fine art painter for Epstein.

In 1996, Annie Famer’s mother told the teenager that she would be travelling to a ranch owned by Epstein. She believed that this was an educational trip for high school students.

Annie was reluctant to go because Epstein had touched her hand when they went to a movie in New York. But she took a chance knowing that Maxwell, a fellow woman, will be there.

During a walk into town, Maxwell told Annie that she’d teach her on how to give Epstein a foot massage. Then, Maxwell said she wanted Annie to have the “experience” of a professional massage.

“She said to get undressed and get [under] the sheet on the massage table, and I did,” Annie said.

She further said that a table was set up in the room where she was staying.

“She pulled the sheet down and exposed my breasts, and started rubbing on my chest and on my upper breast.”

Maxwell was tried on six counts in relation to Epstein.

She was found to be guilty of 5 federal charges: transporting a minor with the intention to engage in sexual activity, sex trafficking of a minor and three related counts of conspiracy.

She was acquitted on the charge of enticing a minor to travel to engage in illegal sex acts.

Maxwell faces up to 65 years in prison.

She has maintained her innocence.
