Gennaro Gatuso has been appointed as the new manager of Serie A club Napoli.

The former AC Milan player and manager takes charge at the Stadio San Paolo following the sacking of Carlo Ancelotti.

Gennaro Gatuso played under Carlo Ancelotti and won the UEFA Champions League twice in a highly successful stint with Milan.

Ancelotti’s dismissal was announced hours after he guided Napoli in to beat Belgian club Genk 4-0 in the UEFA Champions League to qualify for the Round of 16.

Napoli has had a poor form in the Serie A and are 7th in the Serie A table. They have only managed 5 wins out of 15 games leaving them 17 points behind League leaders Inter Milan
