Toussaint L’ouverture was Haitian General and the forefront leader of the Haitian Revolution. 

 

He was a skilled political and military man. He is known as the father of Haiti. 

 

Toussaint L’ouverture  was born in Saint Domingue now known as Haiti. 

During most of his life he worked as a coachman, planter and a slave owner on most plantations in his home country. 

 

In 1801, Toussaint L’ouverture  promulgated the first constitution for Haiti. 

 

He died of pneumonia in 1903 in France. 

 

Toussaint L’ouverture led an epic life in Haiti. He was a large-than-life figure who lead the only successful slave revolt in history. 

 

Toussaint L’ouverture was widely read.  He was also very wealth as a person.
