Unai Emery has been named as the new head coach of Villarreal.

The former Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain and Sevilla manager has signed a three-year contract with the La Liga club.

Villarreal finished fifth in the recently concluded La Liga season.

This is Emery’s first job after being sacked by Arsenal in November 2019 following a run of poor results.

Emery replaced Arsene Wenger at the Emirates in 2018 but failed to secure a return to the Champions League, losing the Europa League final 4-1 to Chelsea in 2019.

Emery, 48, has replaced Javier Calleja, who left the club despite leading them to qualify for the UEFA Europa League next season.
