A vision 

A vision is a defined as a mental image of the desired state of an organization in the future. 

A vision is a dream created based on the current data and considering the available opportunities and challenges. 

You can tell what a company or organization will be offering in terms of services or products. 

It is advisable to be realistic when developing a vision for an organization. Also let the vision be simple and clear.

A vision statement ideally should not be longer than a sentence. 

Main characteristics of Vision

  • Flexible 
  • Imaginable 
  • Feasible 
  • Desirable 
  • Focused

Lastly, remember that a vision which cannot be translated into action  lacks substance. 

MISSION 

A mission statement describes why an organization exist. It also shows why and how the organization is unique. 
The mission describes the products, territory and services offered by the organization. 
Examples of Mission statements 

a) To refresh the world in mind, body and spirit – Coca Cola 

b) To bring the best user experience to its customers through its innovative hardware, software and services – Apple Inc 

c) To build communities and transform lives – Safaricom

d) To provide quality education and training, promote scholarship,service, innovation and creativity and inculcate moral values for sustainable individual and societal development – Kenyatta University
