Derby County defender Andre Wisdom is in hospital after being stabbed in Liverpool.
The Rams confirmed on Monday that Wisdom was robbed in Toxteth area when he visited his relatives.
The Merseyside police have launched investigations.
The 27-year-old featured on Saturday in the 2-1 win over Reading.
The club’s statement read: ‘’Derby County Football club can confirm that Andre Wisdom has been the victim of an unprovoked assault and robbery.
‘’He sustained injuries which resulted in him being admitted in hospital, where he is in a stable condition.
‘’Merseyside police are investigating and the club will focus in its efforts on supporting Andre and his family. Therefore, we will not be making any further comment at this time.’’

I don’t think he will play again this season it’s serious perhaps I’m glad he is in stable condition, speedy recovery.
It is so unfortunate that Andre Wisdom was the target of robbery with violence.
Sports had been one of the most affected sectors as a result of Covid-19. Our fingers are closed hoping for the best.
By the way there is no one who knows the day or time when Covid-19 will be kicked out of this world. But we hope for all the best.
