The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has revealed that they were ordered to seek way to knock out the Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. They agency was directed to frame the DP with graft cases that will finally lead him to prison.

According to the DCI detectives, they arrested the Deputy President without documented evidence. He was then arraigned in court on July 26, 2021 when he was accused with graft case involving Sh7.3 billion.

Speaking to the court, Kuriah Obadiah a DCI detective claimed that he was the leader of the operation. He claimed that the agency was directed to push the former Mathira MP into a financial-related crime.

“On April 15, 2020, the DCI received a letter from the Financial Reporting Centre making allegations of criminal conduct against the accused persons imputing embezzlement of funds from the National Irrigation Board and other entities,” Mr. Obadiah’s affidavit narrates.

The DCI now wants the court withdraw the case because no documented evidence was provided to affirm the allegations. They claimed that the former regime led by President Uhuru Kenyatta was responsible for Rigathi Gachagua’s unlawful arrest.

According to the DCI, Gachagua differed to support the former President who was forced to make prior precautions. The criminal investigators launched the plan but they were not given enough time to find enough evidence.

“The investigations team headed by myself was given strict and fixed timelines to come up with findings promptly which made it difficult to conduct thorough and comprehensive investigations into the allegations,” states Mr Obadiah.

The DCI will wait until November 21, 2022, to determine the DP’s fate.
