Villarreal have signed midfielder Francis Coquelin from rivals Valencia.

The former Arsenal midfielder has signed a four-year deal with Villarreal, having spent two and a half seasons with Valencia.

Coquelin made 89 appearances in all competitions for Valencia and helped the club to win the Copa del Rey in his first season at the club.

Villarreal finished fifth in the 2019-20 La Liga season. Emery is expected to guide the Yellow Submarine back to the Champions League next season and repair his reputation after he was fired by Arsenal in November 2019.
