Chris Smalling is close to join As Roma on loan
Manchester United defender chris Smalling is close to joining As Roma on a season long loan.
Chris Smalling has fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford following the arrival of Harry Maguire from Leicester City. Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer seems to favor Victor Lindelof, Eric Bailly and Axel Tuanzebe ahead of him.
However, earlier this month, Manchester United manager blocked Everton’s loan move for Smalling. It seems the Norwegian manager didn’t want the player to join a premier league rival.
The serie A club will pay £3M for the 29 year old defender. Chris Smalling has reportedly agreed personal terms with the Italian club.
As Roma do not have the option to buy Smalling at the end of the loan.
