Chelsea have agreed a deal in principle to sign striker Timo Werner from RB Leipzig.

The German forward has a £49.4M release clause which expires on Monday, June 15.

The Blues have offered a £200,000-a-week contract to the 24-year-old.

Werner had publicly indicated his preference to join Liverpool but they were unwilling to pay his release clause.

Werner has scored 25 goals for RB Leipzig this season.

He has also scored 11 times in 29 games for the Germany national team.

Werner is set to join Hakim Ziyech, who will be joining from Ajax from July 1, as new additions at Stamford Bridge following their transfer ban being lifted by FIFA in December last year.

Chelsea is also interested in signing Leicester City’s left-back Ben Chilwell.
