Sharing is Caring

As campaigns reached the peak on Saturday, a car was reported to hit a crowd in Kisii killing one person. The incident occurred in Eburi, Bobasi constituency.

According to reports, the crowd blocked the road, demanding a politician as he left after a campaign rally to address them before the tragedy. The angry crowd then blazed the car

11 others were also hurt and currently nursing their injuries at Hema hospital.

The Kisii County Police Commander Musyoki Mutungi said that the police have started an investigation on the incident.

“One of the survivors was unconscious by the time we received a report from our officers while the rest (seven) were in stable condition,” said Musyoki.

Musyoki also said the car was in a convoy of Simba Arati, a Kisii County gubernatorial candidate.

Arati declined by saying he had already passed the area before the hit.

“I have heard about the accident. I heard about it when I had already reached my home after our final rally in Nyangusu on Saturday,”said Arati.

Arati on his Facebook page claimed that the allegations are cheap propaganda.

“My attention has been drawn to images doing rounds on social media purporting that my supporters attacked occupants of a motor vehicle in Bobasi.

“I wish to categorically state that the allegations are not only baseless but cheap propaganda by our detractors who have sensed defeat at the ballot. We dismiss the allegations with the contempt they deserve and urge our supporters to continue fostering peace,” he said.
