Sharing is Caring

The bananas comes from the Cavendish sub-group. The commercial banana is the world’s most endangered crop. This is the most uniform food crop globally.

Banana is the most traded fresh fruit when measured by volume. Traders have been handling this fruit at the markets for over the last 100 years.

Refrigerated shipping gave a great boost to banana trading around the world. This made it possible to transport bananas to all parts of the world despite it being highly perishable. It was possible for traders to transport fresh bananas to all the continents of the world.

At some points in the trade history, bananas have been at the center of controversy.

Research have discovered that most of the bananas are now uniform. The banana is planted using suckers. This is why biologists say that a banana is asexual plant because they do not require sex to reproduce.
