Sharing is Caring

Aston Villa have appointed Johan Lange as the club’s new sporting director following the departure of Jesus Garcia Pitarch.

Villa confirmed on Tuesday that Pitarch had left the club and have moved quickly to replace him.

Pitarch joined Aston Villa in 2018 and he came under fire after the club narrowly avoided being relegated despite spending over £140M in transfers following their promotion to the Premier League last year.

Lange joins from Danish side Copenhagen where he served as the technical director for the last six years.

Lange told Aston Villa official website: “Aston Villa is one of the most famous clubs in European football with a rich history, but it is also a progressive club looking to the future.

“I am excited and honoured to be given this opportunity to contribute to the club’s ambitious strategy to become a force in Premier League football again.”
