Sharing is Caring

As the world become a small village, there have been a number of mind-blowing inventions. whatever used to be an imagination, is now a reality.

One of the imaginations that is now a reality is when Tesla revealed cars that are self-driven. But there comes a question if they are safe.

We never had it in mind there would come a moment we will see a car hovering the streets without a driver, though they have not yet reached Kenya, they are making rounds in the United States street roads.

Even with these big inventions, it seems like there are also failures. About a month ago, two Tesla autopilot cars got involved in crash with motorcycles in the US.

It seems that the self-driven cars cannot give way to motorcycle or cannot recognize them in the dark.

There also claims that the Teslas can brake for no reason.

But even with these small failures, Tesla cars are way humans can depend entirely on clean energy. For example, Tesla electric cars. Instead of having gas stations along the highways, we will have recharging stations that will be powered by solar panels.

The first crash involved a Tesla Model Y SUV and a Yahama V-Star motorcycle at Riverside, California. The tesla was travelling east and the motorcycle was ahead of it before the crash.

The motorist died on the spot. Determination of whether the car was on autopilot or not is under investigation.

The second accident happened in Draper, Utah, involving a Tesla Model 3 Sedan and a Harley-Davidson motorcycle. This round, there was a driver behind the wheels of the Tesla but autopilot was engaged. According to reports, the driver did not see the motorcycle in front of him leading to a hit from behind.

The motorist also died at the scene. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) was advised to recall the Teslas since they cannot recognize motorists, emergency vehicles or pedestrians.

In the last six years, NHTSA has reported 39 crashes where the autopilot vehicles were involved.

According to Elon Musk, the Tesla CEO, the radar was eliminated and now the cars depend on cameras and memory.  Tesla said that drivers should be ready to intervene when Autopilot fails.
